Hoops 4 Health
Project Overview
Hoops 4 Health was an annual philanthropic basketball tournament I co-founded to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The event attracted over 200 attendees each year, fostering community involvement, raising awareness about stroke, and promoting healthy lifestyles.
As a stroke survivor, it was important for me to share my story every year and help the Heart and Stroke Foundation continue to advance stroke-related research and resources in Canada through our fundraising efforts.
Key Achievements
- $22K+ raised for the Heart and Stroke Foundation
- 10+ partnerships, 130+ donations, and 25+ sponsors
- 20+ participating teams and 200+ attendees annually
Helping Hearts
Project Overview
Helping Hearts was a CPR/AED Training event I co-organized with the Heart & Stroke Foundation, UBC, the AMS, and student clubs
Key Achievements
- 250+ members of the UBC Community were able to learn life-saving training
- Secured grants to make the event accessible to all community members
- Established 10+ partnerships with EMS resources, UBC departments, and student clubs
Health Day
Project Overview
Health Day was an event I organized as VP of Programming of the Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Academic Honor Society where we organized an entire days worth of health sessions for UBC Students.
Key Achievements
- Free sessions for all students, which included catered food and smoothies
- Educational sessions: a mental health talk, a nutrition talk, a yoga class, a fitness class, and a smoothie social
- 10+ health professionals at our smoothie social that talked with students about various health topics
